* Departing early in the morning, you will discover Kompong Kleang village, first by motor boat, then paddle boat, visiting the flooded forest (or the Vietnamese village, according the season).
As all communities around the lake, the fishing community of Kompong Khleang undergoes dramatic and continual changes due to the seasonal flood levels caused by the reverse flow of the Tonle Sap river. Houses are built on stilts up to 10 m high and the village is surrounded by flooded forest. Here your guide will give you information about hydrology, the useful plants for medicine and cooking and local beliefs.*
Learn about local activities of fishermen, unique human adaptations and the amazing ecosystem of the Tonle Sap Lake.
Observe the daily village life with visits to the local market, the pagoda and the school.

After your trip in the flooded forest and the visit of the Vietnamese village, meet your Cambodian host family to share a typical and copious meal.
Take advantage of the serenity of the village and relax in one of the hammocks.
In the early afternoon, go for a walk in the village center to visit the local market, pagoda, primary school and observe street activities (boat repairs, making fishing traps, fish processing…)
Later visit other part of the village where villagers grow cat fish ‘’trey pra’’ and black fish ‘’treyras’’’and ‘’trey ondeng’’.
On the way back appreciate the unique colors of the sunset on the lake.

* The trip starts with a one hour travel over the Tonle Sap, reaching Prek Toal floating village.
Discover the bird sanctuary in the center of the flooded forest with a specialized guide.
The 21.000 ha of flooded forest welcome the largest water bird colonies of South East Asia such as pelicans, ibis, storks, fish eagles, and cormorants... Lern how to recognize each species and be introduced about their habitat and their ecology.
During your visit, you will receive detailed information concerning the ecology and hydrology of the Tonle Sap and the conservation and nature protection projects done here. Physiological adaptations of the flora will also be introduced, along with useful plants for medicine and cooking.*

After the visit of the bird reserve in the flooded forest, return to the village where a copious meal will be served on a floating house.
In early afternoon, visit the floating village by paddle boat and learn about spatial and social village organization, fishing techniques and about the local development and conservation projects.
You will visit among other things the water hyacinth workshop ‘’Saraï “ managed by a group of women and stop at a luxuriant floating garden.
